Ten Hag: Ronaldo Could No Longer Meet My Manchester United Demands
Former Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag says Cristiano Ronaldo could no longer cope with the intense physical demands of his preferred style of play. Speaking to ESPN Netherlands, Ten Hag praised Ronaldo as one of football’s greatest players but said the forward had not been able to perform at the same level for the previous seven or eight years. Ten Hag said he explained his high-intensity approach when he took over in 2022, including maximum effort in training and peak fitness for matches. Ronaldo left Manchester United by mutual agreement in November 2022 after his controversial interview with Piers Morgan.
