Troops Kill Terror Commander ‘Smally’, Recover Weapons in Katsina Raid
Troops of Operation FANSAN YAMMA have killed a terrorist commander known as Smally during clearance operations in Matazu Local Government Area of Katsina State. The operation, carried out on August 29, followed an exchange of gunfire with armed terrorists in identified enclaves. Military authorities said the group fled after troops returned fire. Troops later confirmed that Smally, said to be working under terrorist leader Kachalla Muhammadu Filani, was neutralised. Three machine guns, two AK-47 rifles, 11 magazines, 180 rounds of ammunition and six motorcycles were recovered. The military said the operation is part of a wider offensive to disrupt terrorist networks and improve security in affected North-West communities.
