Ondo Residents Block Akure–Owo Highway with Victim’s Body to Protest Insecurity
Angry residents of several communities in Akure North blocked the busy Akure–Owo Highway with the body of a man reportedly killed by kidnappers. They demand urgent government action against the rising wave of kidnappings and killings. Protesters carried placards reading “We Are Dying, Save Our Souls” and “Our Children Are in Danger.” They vowed to keep the road closed until Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa visits the scene in person. The state police commissioner, Adebowale Lawal, intervened after dialogue with community leaders. He assured them of additional officers and tactical units to bolster security in rural areas. The demonstration follows a recent abduction in Akoko North West. Residents insist that stronger security measures are needed to protect lives and livelihoods.
