Gunfire Rocks Osogbo Motor Parks in NURTW Leadership Clash

Gunshots rang out at several motor parks in Osogbo on Monday. Rival factions of the National Union of Road Transport Workers protested over the leadership of Osun chairman Nurudeen Alowonle. The group led by Kazeem Oyewale marched on Old Garage Motor Park and met Alowonle’s supporters, triggering a violent exchange. Traders closed their shops in panic as police and Amotekun officers fired tear gas to disperse the crowd. Gunshots were also heard around Stadium and Ilesa motor parks. Fatai Oyegoke, secretary of Oyewale’s faction, accused Alowonle of blocking members from operating and living in fear. The state police spokesman confirmed immediate deployment to restore calm. Governor Ademola Adeleke condemned the unrest and warned of tougher action if the violence continued.
