Port Harcourt Woman Nearly Lynched Over False Child Abduction Claim

Port Harcourt Woman Nearly Lynched Over False Child Abduction Claim — 1 of 4
1 / 4

An angry crowd in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, attacked a woman after accusing her of trying to kidnap a 12-year-old girl. Officers from the Azikiwe Police Division arrived in time to rescue her. Police investigations later confirmed that the child’s mother had authorised the woman to take her daughter to a church branch on Eagle Island. Eyewitnesses say suspicion grew when a passerby questioned her relationship with the girl, and despite her repeated explanations, some residents branded her a trafficker and began to beat her. The Rivers State Police Command condemned the incident as dangerous jungle justice. Officials urged the public to report suspicious activities to security agencies and allow proper investigations, warning that unverified allegations can put innocent lives at risk.
