Museveni’s Son Muhoozi Kainerugaba Declares Plan to Run for Uganda President in 2031
Muhoozi Kainerugaba, son of Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni, says he plans to contest the country’s 2031 presidential election. Kainerugaba, who heads Uganda’s army and leads the Patriotic League of Uganda, said he expects to win with his father’s support. He added that Museveni would serve as his campaign manager. Museveni has ruled Uganda for more than four decades. The 81-year-old has overseen constitutional amendments that removed presidential term and age limits. It remains unclear whether he will seek office again in 2031.
