12 Red Flags That Can Help You Spot Fake Money-Making Websites
After MMM and CBEX, many Nigerians have seen how quickly “earn daily” websites and apps can disappear with people’s money. Before joining any platform shared on WhatsApp or Telegram, watch for warning signs. Be cautious if it promises guaranteed high returns, demands an activation or upgrade fee, rewards referrals more than real work, changes withdrawal rules, or has no verifiable company details. Other red flags include fake-looking reviews, pressure to act fast, bank-alert screenshots as proof, requests for your PIN, OTP or password, support limited to chat admins, and compulsory APK downloads outside official app stores. If a platform shows two or more of these signs, avoid it. Try withdrawing a small balance before committing serious time or money. If you have already been scammed, stop sending money for any so-called recovery fee, contact your bank to secure your account, change your email password, and report the case to the EFCC. What warning signs have you noticed with online earning platforms?
