Abeokuta Cult Clash Leaves One Dead, Police Launch Investigation

One person is feared dead after a suspected cult clash on Wasimi Ake Road in Abeokuta. The Ogun State Police have begun a full-scale probe into the incident. The violence broke out at about 2:45 p.m. on Sunday, May 3, 2026, near Centenary Hall and Lotus Bank, stretching toward the Ijemo Agbadu area. Neighbours heard gunshots and called for help as rival cult members exchanged fire. Police officers from Oke Itoku Division found a victim known only as “Stone” lying in a pool of blood with critical gunshot wounds. He was rushed to State Hospital, Ijaiye, where he was confirmed dead. His body has been taken to the morgue for post-mortem. Authorities have launched an intensified manhunt for the perpetrators. Security presence has been increased to prevent further violence, and the public is urged to share any useful information to support the investigation.
