Ondo Court Remands Man for Publicly Stripping Woman in Oba-Akoko
A Chief Magistrate’s Court in Akure ordered the remand of Jimoh Wasiu after he allegedly assaulted and stripped a woman naked in Oba-Akoko, Ondo State. The Ondo State Security Network Agency brought him to court over charges under Section 355 of the Criminal Law of Ondo State, 2006. Prosecutors say the offence occurred on May 4, 2026, when Wasiu struck Selimat Nasiru in the face and stripped her in public. The defendant pleaded not guilty. His lawyer asked for bail, pledging he would stand trial. The magistrate granted bail of ₦200,000 and two sureties but, after Wasiu failed to meet the conditions, ordered him remanded in custody. The case will be heard again on June 29, 2026.
