When Wealth Fails: A Biblical Call to Faith and Useful Work
Jesus taught his disciples not to place their hope in earthly treasures, which can decay, be stolen or lose their value. Instead, believers should focus on treasures that endure and reflect where their hearts truly are. This is not a call to store material possessions in a physical place in heaven. It is a warning against putting complete trust in money and possessions. If systems fail, practical skills and the ability to work with our hands may become essential for caring for ourselves and our families. Ephesians 4:28 also encourages honest labour. Food, clothing and shelter remain basic human needs, so faithfulness, hard work and useful skills should not be neglected in pursuit of wealth alone.
