WHO Launches Global Roadmap on Health Risks of Climate Migration

WHO Launches Global Roadmap on Health Risks of Climate Migration

The World Health Organization has launched a global research initiative to better understand the health effects of climate-related migration and displacement. More than 300 experts, policymakers and researchers from over 75 countries joined the launch. The initiative will examine how climate change affects people’s health, wellbeing and access to care before, during and after displacement. WHO identified urgent research needs around healthcare access, emergency preparedness, mental health, maternal and child health, chronic illnesses and migration-sensitive health data. The organisation says the roadmap will help countries build more climate-resilient and inclusive health systems for migrants and displaced communities.
