NERSI ₦50,000 Relief: No Registration Needed—Beware of Scams

The NERSI ₦50,000 relief programme for poor and vulnerable households began on 30 October 2026. The Ministry says there is no application or registration process. Beneficiaries are selected from the National Social Register and verified identity records, and nobody can add you to the list for a fee or as a favour. If selected, you will receive an SMS from ALAT (Wema), MoMo PSB, NairaGram, OPay or Moniepoint. Follow the instructions in that message to accept. A genuine message will not ask for money, your PIN, OTP or BVN, and will not contain a link. WhatsApp messages asking you to forward them to get ₦50,000 are fake.
