Toluwanisings’ Family Dispute: Can Marriage Sever Old Family Ties?
I heard Toluwanisings say in a podcast that he pursued his wife for six years before she agreed to marry him. That made me reflect on love, courtship and the expectations people bring into marriage. Based on accounts being shared online, both his maternal and paternal families played roles in raising and supporting him after his mother died. I believe the contributions of relatives who cared for someone through childhood should not be dismissed after marriage. However, marriage should not automatically turn a spouse into the villain. Family disputes often have details outsiders do not know. In my view, the real question is whether a person can honour their spouse while still treating both sides of their family with fairness and respect. Who should take responsibility when a marriage creates tension with relatives: the husband, the wife, or both families? Share your view without insults.
