US, Nigerian Forces Begin New Combat and Drone Training in Bauchi
The United States Africa Command says American and Nigerian forces have begun a new series of military training exercises at Operating Location Bauchi. The programme covers combat lifesaving, tactical casualty care, weapons familiarisation, camouflage, water treatment, explosive ordnance disposal, small-unit tactics and unmanned aircraft systems. AFRICOM said the exercises are intended to strengthen the capacity of Nigerian personnel, improve their response to security threats and deepen operational coordination between both countries. The drone training will support surveillance, intelligence gathering and other military operations. The sessions come as Nigeria seeks to improve its response to terrorism, armed groups and other security challenges across the country.
