Toblerone Takes UK Chocolate Maker to Court Over O’bar Shape
Toblerone owner Mondelēz International has sued British chocolate maker Catherine’s Originals, alleging that its vegan O’bar copies Toblerone’s protected design. The Sussex-based company disputes the claim. It says its dome-shaped chocolate bar has no commercial link to Toblerone and does not infringe the trademark rights being asserted. Mondelēz says it must protect the distinctive Toblerone shape, which has been associated with the brand for decades. The companies reportedly held talks for several months before the case went to court. The dispute follows Mondelēz’s earlier legal battle with Poundland over its Twin Peaks bar, which was later redesigned. The new case has not yet been resolved.
