19-Year-Old Stabbed to Death in Mossel Bay Xenophobic Violence
A South African family is calling for justice after 19-year-old Nhlamulo Sambo was killed during unrest in Mossel Bay, Western Cape. He lost his life on 31 May 2026 in what relatives believe was a tribalist and xenophobic attack. According to Nhlamulo’s sister, neighbours targeted him because he was Tsonga in a Xhosa area. She described the assault as inhumane, saying: “They killed my brother like they were killing a dog. His only fault was being Tsonga.” The tragedy has triggered widespread outrage online. Many are condemning tribalism and xenophobia, and demanding authorities hold those responsible to account.
