UEFA President Ceferin Criticises Infantino Over FIFA Commercial Rights Plan

UEFA President Aleksander Ceferin has criticised FIFA President Gianni Infantino over FIFA’s now-abandoned proposal to sell a 20% stake in its commercial rights to private investors. Speaking at the European Football Clubs General Assembly, Ceferin said FIFA presented the plan using terms such as development, democratisation and consultation. He argued that the process did not match those claims. Referencing The Emperor’s New Clothes, Ceferin said convenient language could not change uncomfortable realities. He questioned whether national football associations were properly consulted before the proposal was presented.
