NEMA Trains Kaduna Responders for Urban Flood Rescue Ahead of Rainy Season
The National Emergency Management Agency has begun refresher training for emergency responders in Kaduna to improve urban flood rescue operations ahead of the rainy season. NEMA said lessons from recent flood responses showed that rescue teams must prepare for submerged homes, collapsed walls, electrical hazards and distressed residents. The training focuses on updated rescue skills, coordination and the safety of responders. Officials from fire services, FRSC, the Nigerian Red Cross, NIWA and other agencies are taking part. Residents in flood-prone areas were also urged to follow early warnings, comply with safety advisories and use life jackets correctly around waterways.
