Terrorists Kidnap 26 at Kogi Orphanage, Demand ₦150 Million Ransom
Late on Sunday night, gunmen invaded a remote orphanage and school in Zariagi, Kogi State. They abducted 24 children and two of the proprietor’s wives. The kidnappers are demanding a ₦150 million ransom. A teacher said the attack began around 11:00 p.m. Some children escaped, and one student hid with his younger brother before fleeing into the bush to raise the alarm. Security forces, local hunters and vigilantes later rescued 17 victims. The Commissioner of Police confirmed that coordinated search teams are combing nearby forests for the remaining hostages. He warned that isolated facilities need proper security infrastructure and urged parents to verify safety standards before enrolling their children.
