Fuel Subsidy Removal: Why Should Citizens Bear the Burden of Government Waste?

I read an argument that fuel subsidy must never be restored, but I have a few questions. Must subsidy be removed before states can receive better allocations? Why not cut excessive government spending in other areas instead of removing one benefit that directly helps ordinary Nigerians? Why must states depend so heavily on federal allocations? States should improve their internally generated revenue, reduce waste and manage public funds prudently so they can pay workers’ salaries. Enough of policies that suffocate citizens. Restore fuel subsidy and let the masses breathe.
