Oyo Woman Seeks Divorce, Alleges Husband Neglects Family and Abuses Her

Abiodun has asked the Grade A Customary Court in Mapo, Ibadan, to dissolve her marriage to Damilola. She says he has been a figurehead husband who never provided for her or their five children. She claims she alone feeds the family and pays school fees while he shirks all responsibilities. Abiodun adds that his constant beatings and troubling conduct left her with no peace of mind. She wants custody of the children and an order requiring Damilola to cover their feeding, education and healthcare. The court adjourned the matter until April 20 for the defence.
