Fanny Amun Resigns After Submitting Report on Super Falcons’ WAFCON Failure
Former Nigeria Football Federation General Secretary Fanny Amun has resigned as chairman of the NFF fact-finding committee set up to review the Super Falcons’ disappointing 2026 WAFCON campaign. Amun said he stepped down immediately after submitting the committee’s report because he wanted to protect its findings from possible interference. He said he deliberately gave the panel a two-week timeline, although he expected the assignment to take less time. The committee was constituted on August 17, 2026, following criticism of Nigeria’s recent national-team performances. Its mandate includes identifying the causes of the decline, consulting stakeholders and proposing reforms to improve Nigerian football.
