Hansi Flick Insists Barcelona Will Keep High Line Despite PSG and Real Madrid Defeats
Barcelona coach Hansi Flick says the team will not abandon its high defensive line despite successive defeats to Paris Saint-Germain and Real Madrid. Flick believes the approach still gives Barcelona an advantage when the players press quickly after losing possession and keep the right distance between the lines. He admitted the system carries risks but remains convinced it suits his squad. Ahead of Barcelona’s La Liga match against Alaves, Flick said the recent setbacks would not force a tactical change. He also pointed to injuries to Jules Kounde, Eric Garcia, Xavi Espart and Andreas Christensen as factors behind the defensive problems. Barcelona lost 4-2 to PSG and 2-1 to Real Madrid after an 11-match winning run, but Flick says the team will continue with its aggressive style for the rest of the season.
