Effurun High Court Acquits Two Boys in Rape Case Citing Prosecution’s Lapses
A Delta State High Court in Effurun has discharged and acquitted two minors who faced rape charges. They were arrested and arraigned on December 9, 2025, and granted bail the same day. On April 21, 2026, the court ruled that the prosecution failed to handle the case with due diligence. The defence counsel noted that relevant sections of the Administration of Criminal Justice Law and the Child Rights Law were cited in opposing extended detention without proper prosecution. With the charges dropped, the two boys are now free to return home and continue their lives under the protections afforded by law.
