FG Orders Faster Repairs on Key Niger Roads as Contractor Faces Delay Query

The Federal Government has directed contractors on the Bida–Lapai–Lambata and Maje–Dikko road corridors in Niger State to speed up repairs and reconstruction to restore easier travel for motorists. During an inspection, Minister of State for Works Bello Goronyo said the 123.4-kilometre Bida–Lapai–Lambata route is vital for moving farm produce, goods and passengers. He said palliative work should begin immediately while permanent reconstruction continues under the Presidential/NNPC Tax Credit arrangement. The minister also ordered round-the-clock work and more equipment on difficult sections of the Maje–Dikko route, especially areas affected by drainage and erosion. At the Maje–Jazu Section II project, the ministry criticised CCECC Nigeria Limited for slow progress. Goronyo said more than ₦10 billion had been released from the project’s roughly ₦90 billion value, but physical work was still below one per cent instead of the nearly 16 per cent expected at this stage.
