Student Frustrated as Benue Government’s 50-Bus Promise Leaves Many Stranded
On April 2, I faced one of the worst days of my life in Jos. After bandit attacks on Palm Sunday, the Benue State Government announced in our committee chat that 50 buses and 100 security guards would evacuate us safely. I arrived at the junction at 6:20am and waited three hours. When the buses came, there were only eight. We were taken to a police barracks and left waiting while drivers fetched more students far beyond our capacity. By 2pm, the few policemen grew impatient. They loaded only some of us and told the rest to find their own way home. I walked back to campus, praying for safety until strangers helped me reach Angwan Rukuba. This broken promise left many students stranded and angry. Our government has failed us.
