Anambra Validates Draft Menstrual Health Policy, Assigns Roles to Key Ministries
Anambra State has validated a draft Menstrual Health and Hygiene Management Policy and implementation framework aimed at improving menstrual health outcomes for girls and women. The Ministries of Women Affairs, Health and Education will lead implementation alongside the Post Primary School Service Commission, ASUBEB, RUWASSA, civil society groups and the media. The framework assigns responsibilities for health education, pain management, sanitation facilities, public awareness and tackling menstrual stigma. Education agencies are expected to support menstrual health interventions in public schools, while RUWASSA will provide technical guidance on safe, private and menstrual-friendly water and sanitation facilities. Stakeholders say they will continue working towards the policy's formal adoption and coordinated implementation across Anambra State.
