MAPOLY Students Declare August 3 Sit-at-Home Over School Fees Increase

Moshood Abiola Polytechnic’s Students’ Union Government has directed students to observe a peaceful sit-at-home protest on Monday, August 3, over the institution’s recent school-fee increase. The union said it had held several discussions with management after the revised fees appeared on the student portal, but the engagements did not produce a resolution. It said students’ welfare must remain central to decisions affecting their education. Students were urged to remain calm and law-abiding, avoid clashes with staff or security personnel, and rely on official union updates. Transport operators serving the campus were also asked to suspend operations in support of the action. The union said negotiations with management are still ongoing and described the protest as a peaceful call for the fees to be reconsidered, not an end to dialogue.
