Tinubu’s Security Promise Crumbles in Less Than a Day
On April 2, 2026, President Tinubu assured Nigerians at the Jos airport that “this experience will not repeat itself.” Yet, in under 24 hours, a brutal attack in Nyamgo Gyel, Jos South LGA, left several citizens dead. In the following week, Nasarawa State residents from Akyawa and Udege Kasa fled after gunmen killed at least 11 people and destroyed homes. In Zamfara, 150 villagers were kidnapped from Kurfa Danya and Kurfan Magaji. That same day, terrorists in Borno stormed Chibok, killing officers and burning homes. On Easter Sunday in Benue, over 17 people were massacred and communities were laid waste. Today in Kaduna, worshippers in Ariko community were attacked in churches, with many abducted. This string of bloodshed after a solemn promise highlights a leadership failure. Nigerians are dying in places meant to be safe. The nation is in a state of emergency, and urgent action is needed to protect lives and property.
