Katsina Police Arrest Man Over Alleged Diversion of Food for Malnourished Children

Katsina Police Arrest Man Over Alleged Diversion of Food for Malnourished Children

Police in Katsina State have arrested a man accused of diverting 1,500 sachets of Ready-to-Use Therapeutic Food (RUTF) meant for malnourished children. The suspect was reportedly intercepted by surveillance officers in Batagarawa with three sacks of the product, locally known as Yar Kwamaso. Police said the arrest followed credible information received on August 26. Investigators said the suspect claimed he obtained the items from a clinic staff member who is now on the run. The RUTF is intended for free distribution to vulnerable children through public health facilities and is not meant for sale. The police command says it is investigating the alleged diversion network and will prosecute those involved when the investigation is concluded.
