Outrage in Pune as 65-Year-Old Man Accused of Raping and Killing 4-Year-Old
On May 1, a four-year-old girl visiting her grandmother in Nasrapur village, Pune, disappeared while playing near the Ram Mandir. CCTV footage later showed a 65-year-old man leading her to a cattle shed, where the child’s body was found hidden under cow dung. Police report that the accused, identified as Bhimaji Kamble, allegedly lured the girl, sexually assaulted her, and killed her with a stone. He then attempted to conceal the crime by burying her remains. Locals, enraged by the footage, tracked him down near a river and handed him over to the authorities. Villagers gathered outside the police station, demanding the harshest punishment, including the death penalty, for the habitual offender, who had faced similar allegations years earlier. Pune Rural Police have registered charges of rape and murder and assured a fast-track trial, with the charge sheet due within 15 days.
