Dangote Jokes About New Refinery Shareholders Calling for Board Meetings
Aliko Dangote has reacted to the wave of jokes from Nigerians who bought shares in Dangote Petroleum Refinery and Petrochemicals FZE and now describe themselves as co-owners of the company. The refinery’s public offer opened on September 14, 2026, allowing investors to buy from 10 shares at ₦525 each. Since then, new shareholders have shared mock ownership certificates, management-style videos and humorous demands for operational updates. Speaking at the Qatar Economic Forum, Dangote said he had seen people calling him for a board meeting, prompting laughter from the audience. He said the offer is intended to widen access to wealth creation and could attract as many as 10 million shareholders.
