Can a 20,000-Seat Cathedral Reflect Genuine Christian Growth?
I was actively involved in my school fellowship from JSS 1 to SS 3. Despite attending a large federal science and technical school with nearly 2,000 students, we rarely had more than 20 people at worship meetings. So, when I read about a preacher building a 20,000-capacity cathedral, I found it difficult to accept that the number alone reflects genuine Christian growth. In my view, many large congregations are built around dramatic prophecies, promises and personalities rather than the message of the gospel. I believe genuine followers of Christ remain a minority in most Nigerian communities.
