UPTH Responds to Viral Video, Explains Power and Staffing Challenges
The University of Port Harcourt Teaching Hospital has responded to allegations made in a viral video about its services. The hospital said its Accident and Emergency Department could not identify the patient featured in the video and denied claims that blood-pressure monitoring equipment was unavailable. UPTH said power supply has improved through its inclusion in the Federal Government’s off-grid solar project at the University of Port Harcourt. It added that weather conditions and ongoing rehabilitation work can still cause temporary interruptions, while critical units are prioritised. The hospital also acknowledged staff shortages and said recruitment is being handled through federal procedures. Management urged the public to verify concerns directly with the hospital and said it remains committed to quality healthcare delivery.
