Malawian Teacher Arrested After Faking Death to Escape Loan Repayment
A primary school teacher in Kasungu, Malawi, has reportedly been arrested for allegedly forging documents claiming he had died so his outstanding bank loan could be cancelled. The bank reportedly sympathised with his family and wrote off the loan after receiving the documents. Four years later, he allegedly returned to the same bank to apply for another loan. His application reportedly triggered an alert showing that he was already listed as deceased, leading to suspicion and his arrest.
