NSC Confirms D’Tigress Players Have Received $100,000 Presidential Reward in Naira

The National Sports Commission says D’Tigress players have received the naira equivalent of the $100,000 reward promised to each of them by President Bola Tinubu. Team officials also received the naira equivalent of $50,000 each. According to the commission, the payments were credited on Wednesday, September 9, 2026, and the players and officials have confirmed receipt. The reward followed D’Tigress’ victory at the 2025 FIBA Women’s AfroBasket, where they won a fifth consecutive title and their seventh overall. The full package also includes a three-bedroom flat in Abuja and the national honour of Officer of the Order of the Niger (OON). The commission added that the team had earlier received their Certificates of Occupancy and OON certificates. D’Tigress later acknowledged the payment on their official social-media page.
