Belief in Jesus Must Be Reflected in Obedience
Can someone truly claim to believe in Jesus while deliberately living in disobedience to his teachings? This reflection argues that genuine faith is shown through obedience, not merely through words or religious identity. Jesus’ message calls people to love, forgive, show mercy, care for the poor and reject selfishness. A person may attend church regularly and still fail to live out the gospel, while another may demonstrate its values through kindness, compassion and repentance. In biblical Hebrew, listening and obeying are closely connected. Scripture calls believers to listen to Jesus, and Hebrews 5:9 describes him as the source of eternal salvation for those who obey him. God does not save people through empty religion, but through a faith that produces obedience.
