INEC Sets October 9, 2026 for Nationwide PVC Collection Ahead of 2027 Polls

The Independent National Electoral Commission says nationwide collection of Permanent Voter Cards will begin on October 9, 2026, ahead of the 2027 general election. INEC Chairman Prof. Joash Amupitan announced the date during a staff readiness meeting in Kaduna. He said the recent voter registration exercise recorded more than 10.7 million new registrations. The commission says it is working to remove distribution bottlenecks at local government offices so eligible voters are not disenfranchised. It is also refining voter verification, result transmission and result-management systems, while adopting a zero-failure logistics plan for election materials, security coordination and ad-hoc staff training.
