Flamingos Face Ghana in Opening Match of 2026 WAFU B U-17 Girls Championship
Nigeria’s Flamingos will open their 2026 WAFU B U-17 Girls Championship campaign against Ghana’s Black Maidens on Wednesday, September 16, at the CKB Stadium in Côte d’Ivoire. The Group B fixture renews a major rivalry after Ghana beat Nigeria on penalties in the 2024 final, following a 2-2 draw in regulation time. Togo and Niger Republic are the other teams in the group. The tournament serves as a qualifier for the 2027 U-17 Girls Africa Cup of Nations. It will also help the Flamingos prepare for the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup, scheduled for October 17 to November 7, 2026.
