Russian Businessman Who Brutally Beat His Model Girlfriend Dies After Facing Jail or Ukraine Draft
Dmitry Kuzmin was a 41-year-old road construction tycoon in Russia. In November he attacked his 33-year-old model girlfriend, Anzhelika Tartanova, with such force that surgeons removed half her skull to save her life. She now faces lasting challenges with speech, memory, and coordination. Kuzmin was charged with attempted murder and told he could serve at least eight years behind bars. His only alternative was conscription to fight in Ukraine. Shortly after learning his fate, he suffered a fatal heart attack, reportedly from the shock of the criminal case. Tartanova’s sister called the assault “horrifying” and asked how anyone could commit such brutality. Despite her attacker’s death, Tartanova continues a long and difficult recovery from her injuries.
