June 12 Democracy Day: Securing Justice, Prosperity and Safety for All Nigerians

June 12 Democracy Day: Securing Justice, Prosperity and Safety for All Nigerians

This Democracy Day, we honour the sacrifices of June 12 heroes and celebrate 27 years of uninterrupted democratic governance in Nigeria. We welcome the President’s address recognising June 12 as a symbol of unity and accountability. Yet, many Nigerians still face insecurity, unemployment, inflation and declining living standards. We urge the Federal Government to ensure that ongoing economic reforms yield real benefits for citizens. Inclusive growth, accelerated job creation, stronger social protection and improved community-based security must be priorities. As we approach upcoming state elections, all stakeholders – INEC, security agencies, political parties, youths and the media – must uphold free, fair and peaceful processes. Democracy thrives when citizens stay informed, engaged and united.
