INEC Pledges Inclusive, Credible 2027 Elections for Akwa Ibom Voters With Disabilities
INEC says it will work towards free, fair and credible elections in Akwa Ibom during the 2027 general elections. At a sensitisation programme in Uyo, the commission urged its officials to give voters with disabilities the support needed to collect their voter cards and vote without intimidation. The commission said voters with disabilities should be given priority at polling units, alongside elderly and pregnant voters. The National Orientation Agency also warned residents not to allow politicians or other unauthorised persons to collect their PVCs. Representatives of persons with disabilities called for accessible polling units, including wheelchair access, Braille ballot guides, sign-language interpreters and visual aids. They pledged to mobilise members across the state to obtain their PVCs and participate in the election.
