Shettima Calls for Global Cooperation Against Terrorism and Cyber Threats

Vice-President Kashim Shettima says military strength alone cannot defeat terrorism, cyber threats and other dangers that operate across national borders. Speaking for President Bola Tinubu at the UN General Assembly, Shettima cited Nigeria’s experience with Boko Haram, ISWAP and other armed groups. He said lasting security also requires education, jobs, accountable governance and respect for human rights. He urged stronger cooperation through ECOWAS, the African Union and other international institutions. Shettima added that conflicts in one country can disrupt trade, drive displacement and create wider economic and security pressures.
