MC Always Turns Wife’s Cancer Battle Into Call for Better Healthcare

Comedian and skitmaker MC Always, known as Egbon Adugbo, says the loss of his wife to stage-four cancer has pushed him to advocate for a more responsive healthcare system in Nigeria. He said his family’s search for treatment exposed gaps in access to care, treatment costs, medical facilities and support for cancer patients. He has particularly raised concerns about the experiences of patients and caregivers in Lagos. MC Always said other cancer patients and families began contacting him after he shared his story. He now wants their experiences to drive sustained public discussion on affordable, timely and quality healthcare for Nigerians.
