Jesus Arrested in the Garden of Gethsemane – John 18:1-14
After praying in the Mount of Olives, Jesus and his disciples cross the Kidron Valley and enter a garden known as Gethsemane. Judas arrives with armed soldiers and religious leaders to betray Jesus. When Jesus identifies himself, the soldiers draw back and fall to the ground. Peter attempts to defend him by cutting off a servant’s ear, but Jesus forbids violence. He then allows himself to be bound and led first to Annas and then to Caiaphas, fulfilling the prophecy that one man must die for the people.
