Lagos Unveils Five-Point Food Security Plan to Tackle Waste and Improve Access
Lagos State has unveiled a five-point food security strategy focused on agricultural technology, partnerships with other states, investment in farmers, improved storage and reduced post-harvest losses. The state said its approach will prioritise intensive and efficient food production, processing and distribution rather than expanding farmland. Lagos, Nigeria’s smallest state by land area, has a population of more than 22 million residents. Officials said the plan also aims to make nutritious food safer, more affordable and more accessible. The state highlighted existing initiatives including the Lagos Rice Mill, food logistics projects, agricultural training programmes and discounted food markets.
