ICE Detains Qasem Soleimani’s Grand-Niece in Los Angeles Amid Green Card Revocation

ICE Detains Qasem Soleimani’s Grand-Niece in Los Angeles Amid Green Card Revocation — 1 of 2
1 / 2

ICE arrested 25-year-old Sarinasadat Hosseiny and her mother, Hamideh Soleimani Afshar, in Los Angeles after the US State Department revoked their permanent residency. Officials cited ties to Iran’s regime and a fraudulent asylum claim. Hosseiny entered the US on a student visa in 2015 and obtained a green card in 2023. Her social media posts showed a glamorous lifestyle in Miami, Las Vegas and at music festivals, as well as wearing clothing banned under Iranian law. Her mother publicly praised the IRGC, designated a foreign terrorist organisation by the US, while living in California. Both women’s residency was ended by Secretary of State action just hours before their arrest. These arrests are part of a broader US crackdown on individuals with alleged links to Iran’s elite Revolutionary Guard. Soleimani’s daughter has denied any family connection to these women.

You're right, ICE better come with rock-solid proof before snatching anyone's green card like that.

ICE revoked residency after alleging fraudulent asylum claim and regime ties. Sounds like they're broadening their scrutiny of family connections.

Using ancestral relations as grounds for detention feels unfair, especially when she entered the country on a student visa.

If you or loved ones face similar immigration issues, consult a reputable attorney and gather as much documentation as possible.
