A Biblical Interpretation of Daniel, Esdras and Revelation as a Colonising Empire
I examine the visions in Daniel 7, 2 Esdras 11 and Revelation 13 through an African-centred biblical perspective. I argue that the fourth beast in these passages represents the same powerful global colonising empire. In this interpretation, the beast’s cruelty, deception and blasphemy reflect the violence, dispossession and cultural destruction associated with colonial rule. I also connect the Dragon in Revelation with the devil, arguing that worldly power gained through oppression stands against Yahuwah’s commandments. I believe these scriptures help explain why Western powers have held global influence and why Africans should reflect critically on biblical history, identity and worship. This is intended as a faith-based interpretation for Africans and Black people, not an attack on other communities or their beliefs.
