UNIJOS Agriculture Students Produce Bread, Mayonnaise and Fruit Jams at Food Science Exhibition
University of Jos 200-level agriculture students have displayed bread, mayonnaise, pineapple jam, banana jam and other food products made from locally sourced materials during a practical food science exhibition. The exercise formed part of AGR 206, Introduction to Food Science and Technology. Students worked in groups and were assessed on processing, preservation, packaging, cost analysis, production time and product quality. University officials said practical agricultural training can help graduates build businesses in food processing and contribute to Nigeria's food security. They also called for greater investment in university infrastructure and agricultural research, noting that the institution receives more than 50,000 applications each year.
