Nigerians Fill Manhattan Streets for 66th Independence Day Parade
Thousands of Nigerians turned parts of Manhattan green and white on Saturday during the annual Nigeria Independence Day Parade and Carnival. The procession moved along Second Avenue from East 54th Street, passing Nigeria House before ending around East 44th Street. Participants wore traditional outfits, waved flags and celebrated with music, drumming and dancing. The event later continued at Dag Hammarskjöld Plaza with food, speeches and performances by Patoranking, Runtown and BNXN. Diplomats, community leaders, families, students and Nigerian-Americans joined the celebration.
